Trackback spam hole closed - sorta

The great news is that the change I made earlier today prevents trackback spam from automatically showing up on the site.

The bad news is that all those trackback spam attempts now show up in my moderation queue - accompanied by a notification email each time

Unfortunately this also applies to regular trackbacks, so trackbacks don’t show up instantly.

So, the next task is to find a way to prevent these trackback spamming scumbags from getting to the moderation queue.

WordPress trackback spamming

Ok, so I closed the comment spam hole (at least for now), but today I’ve started getting massive amounts of Trackback spams.

I’ve implemented a simple code change that I found on Tackling Comment Spam, and now it’s time to sit back and see if it has any effect.
