Mark Joyner’s new book

Mark Joyner (of Simpleology) just published a new book called The Great Formula

The site itself doesn’t say much about the book, but I’ve grabbed the following directly from Amazon

From the Inside Flap
In The Irresistible Offer, Mark Joyner showed marketers, salespeople, and business leaders how to craft an offer that no reasonable person could refuse. But, despite its undeniable effectiveness, The Irresistible Offer is only one ingredient in Joyner’s recipe for consistent sales success. Now, he shares the rest of his proven selling process in The Great Formula.

The Great Formula begins where The Irresistible Offer left off: with an unbeatable offer that’s just waiting to be sold. This second installment takes that offer and shows you how to present it to customers, sell it, and then sell it again. The key to sales success really is that simple! Realistically, everything you need to know about selling can be summed up in three short steps—create an enticing offer, present it to the right audience, and then give them a second helping of it.

If none of this sounds all that original to you, then you’re already on the right track! The Great Formula works because it stresses simplicity and focuses just on those actions that get results. It’s real-world, down-to-earth selling advice that’s so straightforward even the smartest people often overlook it. But great businesses, whether they know it or not, use The Great Formula everyday. As proof, Joyner examines a variety of successful businesses—some you might already know about—and shows you how they used The Great Formula to great success.

Joyner fully explains every aspect of the three-step process and also includes tips and tricks that will make it even more effective. He shows you how to use word of mouth to turn satisfied customers into free advertising, how to find the perfect potential buyers for your product, and how to increase your profits by selling even more product on the back end.

The Great Formula is simple because, as Joyner shows, success is never complicated. It’s only a matter of seeing, with clarity, which simple actions will render the desired result and then taking those actions with zeal. Regardless of what you sell, this time-tested system can be applied to any business—even yours—in any industry.

The list price at Amazon is $21.95, but when I checked this morning the current price was $13.17 :-)
There is - as always - a truckload of bonuses available when you buy the book (through the site at the beginning of this post) instead of just going straight to Amazon to buy it.

And I’m off to order my personal copy now.

Porn star cartoon

Now, Mark Joyner (of Simpleology)isn’t the first person one associates with porn stars, but he just posted a porn star cartoon

It’s ok to go have a look - I would even allow my own kids to see it - that’s how “safe” it is.

But Mark isn’t really going down porn star alley - he’s trying to make a point or open up for discussion the “absolute truth” in goal setting statements such as “you become what you think about most of the time”.

And my head is spinning because this has caused a myriad of thoughts - and they haven’t crystalized yet.

Now, if we don’t become porn stars by watching porn movies and thinking about how cool it would be to be a porn star, does “you become what you think about most of the time” then hold any value or meaning or truth?

What is it that’s missing for “you become what you think about most of the time” to be a valid mantra for reaching goals?

Opting out of Onsite Advertiser Sign-up isn’t enough…

…if you want to prevent Site Targeted Google AdSense ads from showing up on your sites.

If you opt in to “Onsite Advertiser Sign-up” then you’ll see a link named “Advertise on this site” together with your Google AdSense ads.

All this does is send your visitors to a special landing page, and guide them to set up site targeting for your site specifically.

Now, I was under the impression that if I opted out of “Onsite Advertiser Sign-up”, then I wouldn’t get those Site Targeted Google AdSense CPM ads on my sites.

Well, I was wrong.

Initially I thought that I had accomplished my goal by opting out of “Onsite Advertiser Sign-up”, but Site Targeted ads still showed up when I dug into some advanced reporting on my AdSense account.

Well, I was wrong.

So I raised a ticket with Google AdSense Support, and got a very fast reply that really described the Site targeting scenario,

Opting out of “Onsite Advertiser Sign-up” essentially just removes the “Advertise on this site” link.

And the email from the support team also stated that all Google AdSense accounts are opted in to Site Targeting per default.

Ouch, so basically Site targeting can’t be disabled through your account settings.

I have one option though, but I have to wait for the support team to get back to me again before I know anything concrete.

The problem site targeting was originally brought to my attention by Adsense - Getting Paid Per Impression over at one of Lynn terry’s blog.
