BlogSnob is outta here
I've just removed the BlogSnob ad-unit from the blog.
The content-matching were just way off, which is bad enough, but then I got the following email from BlogSnob:
This is an automated note from BlogSnob to let you know that an ad you
recently created is on hold. This usually means that we weren't able to
reach your server.
First off: My site has been available all the time.
So there's either something wrong at BlogSpot or they experienced network problems.
But then the email continued:
When putting your ad on hold the BlogSnob administrator said "Please remove
pop up."
We'll check your ad out again in a few days. If the problem that caused
your ad to go on hold isn't corrected after a few weeks, your ad will be
deleted.
So, first it's an automated note, and then it's suddenly an administrator that has looked at my site - go figure.
Anyway, I didn't remember seeing pop-ups mentioned in the TOS when I signed up - Yes, "I'm Henrik, and I read TOS's"
- so I went to take another look.
Yep, I was right, popups isn't mentioned in the TOS, but the TOS also refers to the FAQ about technical requirements.
The problem is, there is no such thing as a link to anything called "FAQ".
But there is a link to "Help" in the navigation, which turned out to be the FAQ.
But no mention of popups in the FAQ either.
So an email that hints at it being my site that was unavailable, followed by a contradictory statement that an administrator looked at my site, followed by a trip to both the TOS and the FAQ (which is found under help) coupled with the fact that the served ads didn't look interesting - that can only lead to me pulling the plug on BlogSnob.
If you want to appeal to the very broad market of bloggers, then it's no good if you confuse them with inconsistencies and reject then even if they are in full compliance with the TOS.
So, BlogSnob is outta here...
