I’ve been thinking alot about stress lately
April 10th, 2006
Stress is the silent killer, that just sneaks up on us and begin cutting away days and months and years off of our lives.
And for some strange reason we’re somehow not able to spot these big chunks of our lives being torn away.
I mean, if you wake up one morning and you’re missing the tip of your index finger, your bed is covered in blood and it hurts like hell, then what do you do?
Maybe you panic, maybe you’re just shocked, but the firstthing you do is stop the bleeding, clean up the wound and bandage it.
Then maybe yo uconsult your doctor, you get some antibiotica to prevent infection and you make sure to change bandages regularly.
All this you do for a piece of a finger - nowhere near a critical wound.
But when it comes to stress we just seem to ignore the symptoms, hoping they’ll magically go away - eventhough we know that stress is a malignant killer.
I became acutely aware of my own stress earlier this year when I was sick three times over the course of six weeks - and each time I was sick for more than a week.
It was a rough awakening call, but one that was definitely needed.
And it made me wonder how many different stress symptoms I had simply ignored or failed to recognize.
What about you? - are you completely stress-free?
